The Tommyfield opens new hotel rooms

The Tommyfield in Kennington Cross has officially gone up in the world with the opening of six stunning hotel rooms above the much-loved pub.

Located just five minutes away from London’s vibrant Southbank, The Tommyfield, owned by the award-winning Renaissance Pubs, was originally built in 1857. Today, The Tommyfield, celebrates its coaching inn roots by becoming a luxurious yet contemporary city crash pad as well as a cracking local.

The first hotel rooms courtesy of school friends Tom Peake, Mark Reynolds and Nick Fox, each stylish double en-suite is of the highest quality. Mixing elegance with the industrial, the individually designed spaces have their own unique character and charm.

Unified by their attention to detail, each boutique-style bedroom has everything you need but in a relaxed, understated fashion. Luxurious Hypnos beds have the downiest duvets and soft Egyptian cotton sheets. Bathrooms feature cast iron roll-top baths or huge rain showers, some have both. There is even a deluxe double basin incase you are not one to share.

There are HD Freeview televisions and free wireless internet for those looking for a technology fix. Nespresso machines, mini-fridges, black-out blinds and hairdryers are on hand for those who like their home comforts.

Guests can choose between Super King, King and Twin rooms. Business travellers can opt for rooms with desk space. Families can make use of adjoining chambers so you can keep an eye on your brood.

Designed by co-owner Tom Peake alongside artist Adam Ellis and interior decorator Hannah Lindsay, the bedrooms are a bold step away from your traditional pub room. Handsome, strong with punches of colour, there is bright, bespoke graphic art throughout. Think Superwoman, BOAC luggage tags and Concorde illustrations for a playful nod to all things travel. Head to Room Six for a genius use of original floor-boards or make your way to Room Five for unique petrol blue wood paneling.

Mindful of guests’ busy schedule, breakfast is served in-room Monday to Friday and in the pub at the weekends. Delicious Saturday and Sunday dishes include buttermilk pancakes with blueberry compote and mascarpone cream or eggs Florentine with spinach and hollandaise.

All rooms cost £119 and include breakfast. Bookings can be taken via www.thetommyfield/hotelrooms or by phoning the pub direct on 020 7735 1061.

The Tommyfield Hotel Rooms are Renaissance’s first foray into the travel business and have paved the way for future pub transformations. Watch this space for more hotel openings in the coming year.
